We Americans only get 10 days of PTO every year. The European mind can hardly comprehend it, but at most of our jobs, that's the national standard for vacation time. If you've spent any length of time in the workforce, you know that those PTO days are precious and must be used wisely, so when this new father used up all of his vacation time, PTO, leave, and sick days to help his wife with their newborn, they cashed out of their entire supply of paid leave. And when this new mom's bestie decided to throw a last-minute wedding, there was nothing left.
Too bad, and too late, Sweetie—nobody wants to go to your Wednesday wedding anyway!
